The founders of QuitAlcohol are passionate about recovery and support higher learning. Long term recovery is more than simply staying sober, it is living life with passion and purpose. As part of “Recovery Month” QA has committed up to $10,000 annually for Higher Educational Scholarships and we are excited to announce our college scholarship fund.

Quit Alcohol is proud to announce our college scholarship commitment.

Higher education can be a valuable aspect of securing long-term career goals. We are committed to support higher educational goals for people affected by Alcohol Use Disorder, to help new and returning students to reach their educational and vocational goals and to give back to the community.

Scholarship Award Details:

  • Up to Three (3) $1,000 scholarships per semester (Spring and Fall)
  • Up to Four (4) $500 scholarships per semester (Spring and Fall)

Scholarship Eligibility

To be considered for the scholarship, individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an (incoming) student pursuing a college or university degree (Associate’s, Bachelor, Master, Doctoral) or a trade certification in a technical college.
  • Be enrolled (or pending enrollment) full-time at a post-secondary institution.
  • Priority will be given to individuals in Substance Use or Alcohol Use Recovery,  people directly affected by a family member, or individuals enhancing their career in the SUD field. 

Scholarship Submission Process

Submit an essay describing your recovery experience, your loved one’s recovery, and how it has affected your growth experience or what drew you to the Substance Use Disorder helping field.  Describe your knowledge of addiction and recovery and what your goals for the future are.  Tell us how this scholarship will help you to attain your goals.

Essay Submission Guidelines:

  • The essay is your original work.
  • The essay should be in a scholarly format, utilize references and citations when appropriate. 
  • Determination will be based upon your content quality, degree of originality, completeness, and relevancy to the topic.

Essay submission deadline: 

  • Spring 2021: November 15, 2020
  • Fall 2021: July 15, 2021

Scholarship award announcement: 

  • Spring 2021: December 1, 2020
  • Fall 2021: August 1, 2021

The scholarships will be awarded for the Spring or Fall 2021 semester. 

The scholarship will be awarded directly to the university through the financial aid department or after confirmation of enrollment and participation.  The scholarship can be utilized for tuition, books, or supplies directly related to the semester awarded.

How To Apply for The QuitAlcohol.com Scholarship

To submit an essay for review follow these steps:

  1. Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements
  2. Craft an original essay
  3. Submit your essay via email to scholarship@quitalcohol.com with “Scholarship Submission” as the subject.

Include within your email your name, age, university/college institution, email, and if you give permission to post the essay on our site.  Permission to post is not a requirement.

Winners will be notified by email by December 15, 2020, for the Spring 2021 semester and August 15, 2021.
