The only sure way to prevent a hangover is not to drink alcohol. While there is no sure way to prevent a hangover otherwise it is important to drink a lot of water to increase hydration as well as to eat healthy food rich in potassium, protein, vitamins and fructose. Eating these types of foods and keeping hydrated will allow your body to replenish what the alcohol is depleting and to metabolize the alcohol within your system.

Filling Your Body With Healthy Carbs

When drinking alcohol it is important to eat healthy carbs. This can be a simple as bread with butter or a pasta dish. Eating cards when drinking alcohol absorbs the ethanol and allows it to be metabolized along side the carbs. This lessen the effects of the alcohol on the body.

When drinking alcohol it is wise to follow each drink with a glass of water. Alcohol is a diuretic, it dehydrates the body which causes headache, fatigue and dry mouth. When consuming water you are keeping yourself hydrated. You can also drink other beverages with electrolytes to up your hydration and rid yourself of the hang over.

Honey

Honey is full of fructose that will help the body metabolize alcohol fast. Its also full of potassium which alcohol depletes your body of. Having two to six teaspoons of honey can ride your body of a hangover.

Bananas

Bananas are full of potassium just like honey. It is not only a tasty snack but it will help you prevent a hangover.
