In Action:

Daniel J. Callahan, LMSW has an extensive human service background dating back to1983. He has been a central force in assisting not-for-profit boards to build three human service agencies. Thus he is keenly aware of the need to operate an agency with the highest of standards as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible.

Dan has held therapeutic, administrative, and executive positions with not-for-profit and private rehabilitation programs during the span of his career. He has been involved in recovery based human service, alcohol and substance use disorder treatment, forensic services, case-management with individuals recovering from mental health disorders, and recovery based program development.

Dan was integral in the development of statewide initiatives in the State of New York including the Community Orientation and Re-entry Program (CORP) housed in the Ossining Correctional Facility (Sing-Sing) program designed to bridge the re-entry gap for men with a serious mental illness prior to and during release from incarceration. He was an advisor for The Suffolk County Mental Health Court, and member of The Suffolk County and State of New York Criminal Justice advisory boards.

Dan is the co-author of an NYS training manual and program for mental health and correctional service professionals working with parolees with “serious and persistent mental illness”. Additionally, Dan released “Recovery Thinking, 90-Days to Change Your Life!” in paperback, and “Freedom Recovery, 90-Days to Recover!” an addiction recovery workbook.
